"...Even during the breeding season, linnets feed in restless, chattering flocks and their cheerful twittering song is a characteristic sound of the gorse-studded heaths where they live."

About Us

"from ballads to contemporary airs, and from emotive to close to bawdy, without the raise of a mascara'd eyelash" - Scots Magazine

Hatched in Edinburgh in 2002 from from a Scots Music Group singing class, Linties are a singing quartet performing a varied repertoire of earthy, funny and atmospheric songs, mainly drawn from the rich Scots tradition. They're a favourite at festivals and singing events across Scotland, and never fail to entertain audiences – singing like Linties!

In 2007 they made the 'Highly Recommended' list at Celtic Connections’ Danny Kyle Open Stage. Frae the Forth Frae the Forth, Linties’ second CD, delivers variety and fun in spades. Raucous renditions of unlikely tales and catchy choruses follow on from beautiful and haunting songs. Combining traditional material from Scotland, Ireland and England, contemporary songs from Michael Marra and Tom Waits along with much loved gems from the past, Frae the Forth is a wonderful blend of great songs. Recorded by Ian McCalman at Kevock Digital Recording Studio.
